F-Bar Release History
Version 6.3.0
New
- Choose your refresh interval. Preferences › General lets you choose how often F-Bar refreshes your Forge data: every 5, 10, 15, 30, or 60 minutes.
- Open Device List. Preferences › Notifications includes a button that opens your device list on the F-Bar website, already signed in. From there, you can send a test push to any device.
Fixes & polish
- A simpler deployment-script toolbar keeps “Save to Forge” visible, even in a narrow window. Open the File menu to reload or save your local script, reveal it in Finder, or locate a missing file.
- Refreshing Forge data now uses fewer API requests. F-Bar waits when the account reaches its rate limit and retries temporary connection failures, making refreshes more reliable when you have many servers or share the account with other tools.
- Rebooting PHP for a single site works again. The request sent a badly formatted version value, and Forge rejected it.
- Push notifications are now registered reliably on every launch. Previously, the device token could miss the backend on a normal start, so alerts stayed off even though the checkbox said on. The Notifications checkbox now shows what the server actually has.
- Error alerts can no longer get stuck behind other windows. While an alert is open, the app shows a Dock icon, so you can always bring it back with ⌘-Tab. Alerts also close automatically after five minutes.
- Error alerts now say which action failed, with the message from Forge underneath, instead of showing only the raw message.
- The deployment-script editor warns you before writing a script to a file that belongs to another site, so one wrong Enter in the save dialog can no longer overwrite another project’s script.
- Reloading a linked file whose content has not changed no longer marks the editor as edited.
- Fixed a crash in site monitoring that could happen when the Mac was under heavy load.
Version 6.2.0
New
- Favorite sites. Mark any site as a favorite and it’s pinned to the top of the menu under a new “Favorites” header — your most-used sites are always one click away, no matter which server they live on.
- Custom servers. Add your own non-Forge machines (a NAS, a legacy box, anything with SSH) and open a terminal to them straight from the menu. Managed in Preferences › Servers, with drag-to-reorder.
- Deployment scripts from disk. The deployment-script editor can now load from and write to a local file — keep your scripts in a repo or backed up however you like. A status line always shows whether the editor, your file, and Forge are in sync, and Save is now explicitly “Save to Forge”.
- Copy Path. Hold (⌥) Option and “Open Terminal Here” becomes “Copy Path” — grab the frontmost Finder window’s path without opening a terminal.
Redesigned Preferences
- Preferences is now a native toolbar-pane window with five focused panes: General, Forge Accounts, Servers, Monitoring, and Account.
- Drag to reorder your Forge accounts — the menu follows your order.
- Per-server options (hide from menu, connect via internal IP) and site-monitoring settings live in tidy detail sheets.
- Cleaner labels, standard macOS controls, and a layout that follows the system Settings conventions.
Fixes & polish
- Signing in from Preferences now finishes the job: your servers load into the menu immediately, instead of after a relaunch.
- Clicking an expired or already-used sign-in link now explains what happened and asks you to request a new one, instead of showing “Server error (0)”.
- Moving to a new Mac with Migration Assistant no longer leaves F-Bar half signed in (welcome screen showing while the app was actually still authenticated in the background). Your session now carries over properly.
- The sign-in email flow is more reliable on corporate accounts: sign-in links are no longer consumed by email security scanners before you can click them.
- Removed the duplicate Sign In button from the Account pane.
- Tidier menu: favorites are marked by the new header section instead of a star on every row.
- Under the hood: several windows (About, announcements, config editors) were rebuilt on modern SwiftUI foundations, and crash-report symbol upload was fixed so future issues get diagnosed faster.
Version 6.1.0
- Site submenu now shows the deploy branch (e.g. “Deploy Site (main)”) so you can see what’s about to ship without leaving F-Bar.
- Opening a terminal for a zero-downtime deployment site automatically cds into /current.
- Distinct deploy sounds: a soft chime on success and a sharper, doubled cue on failure.
- When two sites share a name across servers (e.g. mid-migration), each row now shows the server in parentheses so you can tell them apart.
- Actionbar: Prefix queries like my.site now return rows for every matching site, not just the longest match.
- Fixed an occasional crash when refreshing servers if duplicate server IDs appeared in the response.
- The .env editor footer now follows light/dark mode reliably when the system switches appearance.
- Cleaned up the leftover “helper app not found” warning some users saw at boot from a long-removed launch-at-login helper. The cleanup now verifies via launchd and retries on the next launch if it can’t finish.
- Quieter console: removed deprecation warnings from the .env / nginx / deployment-script editor windows and a stray developer log.
