Summary

F-Bar collects minimal data necessary to provide the service: your email for authentication, basic device information to enforce subscription limits, and subscription data handled securely by Paddle. Your Forge API tokens and server data stay on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.

1. Information We Collect

Device Information

We collect limited device information to enforce subscription device limits:

  • Device identifier – A unique identifier for your Mac
  • Device name – The name of your Mac (e.g., "John's MacBook Pro")
  • OS version – Your macOS version number
  • App version – The version of F-Bar you're running

Account Information

We collect your email address for authentication purposes:

  • Email address – Used for magic link authentication (no password required)

Subscription Data

Billing and payment information is handled entirely by our payment processor, Paddle. We do not store your credit card details. We only receive subscription status information (active, cancelled, trial) to manage your access to F-Bar.

Data That Stays on Your Device

The following sensitive data never leaves your Mac:

  • Laravel Forge API tokens – Stored securely in your macOS Keychain
  • Server names and configurations – Stored locally in the app
  • Server monitoring data – Fetched directly from Forge, not through our servers

2. How We Use Your Information

  • Authentication – Your email is used to send magic links for secure, passwordless sign-in
  • Device management – Device information helps enforce subscription limits (up to 3 Macs per subscription)
  • Push notifications – If enabled, we send server alerts through Apple Push Notification Service
  • Service improvement – Aggregated, anonymized usage data helps us improve F-Bar

3. Third-Party Services

Paddle

We use Paddle as our merchant of record for payment processing. Paddle handles all billing information according to their privacy policy and PCI compliance requirements.

Apple Push Notification Service

If you enable push notifications, we use Apple's Push Notification Service (APNs) to deliver server alerts to your Mac. This requires storing a device token provided by Apple.

Laravel Forge

F-Bar connects directly to Laravel Forge's API using your API token. Your credentials are stored locally in your macOS Keychain and are never transmitted through our servers. Please review Forge's privacy policy for how they handle your data.

4. Data Storage & Security

  • Our servers are hosted on secure infrastructure with encrypted connections (TLS/HTTPS)
  • Sensitive credentials (Forge API tokens) are stored in your macOS Keychain, not on our servers
  • We use industry-standard security practices to protect stored data
  • Magic link authentication eliminates password-related security risks

5. Your Rights & Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access – View all data we store about you through your account dashboard
  • Export – Request a copy of your data by contacting us
  • Delete – Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt-out – Disable push notifications at any time in the app settings
  • Remove devices – Deauthorize devices from your account dashboard

6. Data Retention

  • Active accounts – Data is retained while your account is active
  • Cancelled subscriptions – Account data is retained for 30 days after cancellation, then deleted
  • Deletion requests – Data is permanently deleted within 30 days of request
  • Legal requirements – We may retain certain data as required by law

7. Children's Privacy

F-Bar is designed for professional developers and is not intended for use by children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
